Junior Testing Information

SAT

Juniors will take the ACT (American College Testing), funded by the state, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at SJO.  There is no cost to the student, and we will handle test registration. Students will receive a ACT total score, reported on a scale ranging from 1 to 36, combining four scores: Math, Science, STEM, English and Reading. Separately, students also receive a writing score ranging from 2-12. Colleges/universities will accept either SAT or ACT. In addition to the state funded ACT, we hope most students will give serious thought to taking the ACT as well, on a national (Saturday morning) test date.

ACT National Test Dates

The ACT will be administered during the school day, but students are encouraged to choose the ACT test date offered at SJO on Sat., February 8th. Deadline for registration for these test date is in early January. Registration packets and payment for ACT are online at www.act.org. It is important to enter the registration information correctly. Two common errors involve the high school code and test center code. SJO high school code is 143-815. The test center code for SJO is 201-880. The ACT is also offered on other various national test dates at surrounding area schools which can be found by going to www.act.org.

Test dates coming up: June 14th (registration deadline of May 9th) and July 12th (registration deadline of June 6). These tests are NOT offered at SJO, but will be offered at surrounding schools such as Centennial.

Looking ahead: SJO will be offering the ACT on a national test date during the 25-26 school year: Saturday, October 18th, 2025. The deadline to register for this test is September 12th. Reminders will be sent out when we return to school in August!

Test Preparation

Thanks to Mr. Brooks, all SJO students have access to the Jason Franklin Test Prep Materials at no cost to the student. This test prep allows you to choose which section you'd like to focus on and has practice tests included to gauge where you may be with some of the material. For the Jason Franklin Test Prep, information was sent out out via email through TeacherEase from Mrs. Butler with how to create an account for students. Along with the online test prep access, Jason Franklin also offers in-person prep courses. See the guidance office for more information! In addition to ACT prep classes, every junior student will need to have an ACT account (to access their scores).  Students- please feel free to sign up for an ACT account at your leisure or wait until school day testing and we will get you signed up. Try not to use school email because those accounts are deactivated after you graduate. Please also make sure that if you set up an ACT account that you keep your login information some where safe as we do not have access to that information! Any account issues will result in a phone call to ACT.
