Daily Announcements for April 24, 2026

Happy Earth Day Week! Did you know that every year around 11 million tons of plastic enters our oceans and that only 9% of plastic ever produced is recycled? Do your part by throwing bottles and other plastic items in recycling bins around our school! We hope you had fun this week with the dress up days, trivia and prizes, but the fun does not have to stop! The finale is a carnival this Saturday from 1-3 pm in the high school parking lot. There will be games, food, and prizes. Hope to see you there!

The latest edition of The Spartan Update is available to read online. 

Prom tickets are on sale during 2nd lunch and will be sold through Tuesday, April 28th. Tickets are $30. 

Sign-up sheets are in the office for Volleyball, Dodgeball, and Bags teams at Post Prom.  The rules are that all teams must be co-ed, 6 players on each team.  There will be 8 volleyball teams and 10 dodgeball teams.  If you play either of these games, you cannot play bags.  If you play bags, you cannot play Dodgeball and Volleyball.

The FFA will be holding a roadside-cleanup this Saturday at 6 am. They will be meeting at the wetlands parking lot. Bring gloves and wear bright clothes. Please contact Chase Mabry if you have any questions.

Join the music department tomorrow for a pulled pork dinner fundraiser followed by a concert! Dinner starts at 5:30 in the commons and costs $20, followed by a talent show concert at 7 pm.  The concert is free to attend, but donations are accepted. Tickets can be purchased at the event or online ahead of time.

Reminder – NHS officer applications are due today by 3 pm to Mrs. Beckett in rm 211.

The following seniors still need to submit a younger/baby picture and a current/senior picture for the graduation slideshow. Please email pictures to Mrs. Harbaugh (harbaughv@sjo.k12.il.us) TODAY. Hello parents! The Post Prom Committee needs your help.  We are taking donations and have included a spreadsheet listing our needs for prizes and supplies.  You can also donate your time.  We need parent volunteers to help set up and run the event.  Sign up here to volunteer. The committee and students appreciate your support!

The 20-year anniversary recognition ceremony for the 2006 SJO State Championship Softball team is tomorrow at 1 pm before the SJO/Beecher game. We hope to see everyone here this Saturday!
